I stand corrected, but I do know that the 4GT switch only works in
Enterprise Edition.
though. That is bizarre. What about POST? What is that reporting.
plug PCI slots.
Nope, just plain old NTServer 4.0
I have also heard on other forums that NT4 is supposed to
support 4GB ram. That said, I have also heard that it only
supports 2GB fom other sources. I think that I also read
that NT4 server supports 2GB ram per PROCESS. This may be
where some confusion is coming from.
While researching, I came across a document from microsoft
about the amount of ram supported. It mentions the
following....
" NOTE: The 4GT works only on 32-bit processors, so it
does not increase the addressable memory of Windows NT
Server beyond its current limit of 4 GB "
This is that articele, just FYI...

I am sure it does support 4GB, but was confused about the
reporting of it.
Thanks

Is it the Enterprise Edition of NT4 Server??
The reading comes from the system properties page and
reads 3.6GB. I assume that this is just the way that
NT4 "does what it does", but I was curious.
Thanks

Windows NT4 Server can only see and use 2GB RAM. To
see
more, you need
NT4 Server, Enterprise Edition.
Where are you see the 3.6GB reported?
Post by spongebobI have a Compaq Proliant 3000, 450 mhz, with 4GB ram
(the
Post by spongebobmax) installed and detected by the BIOS, but windows
NT
Post by spongebobServer 4.0, SP6a only sees 3.6GB ram.
Does anyone know if this is correct or some limit of
the
Post by spongebobOS that needs to be patched?
Thanks, Spongebob
